For A Rainy Day
![]()
Late October rain in New York City is, well, late October rain in New York City. Frigid and miserable. Days like these when I get home from work I have two choices: wallow in a full length listening session of Tom Waits’ Swordfishtrombones, or put on gauzy, remixed electropop. This particular evening, the latter is the clear choice. It would be insane to ignore the RAC’s gorgeous take on Katie Herzig’s “Free Your Mind.” I honestly think this is one of the best RAC mixes out there.

Graycat – a DJ nobody seems to be paying much attention to, yet who is able to throw together some of the better mashups out there – is a good place to go next. “Warped Lights,” a reworking of Ellie Goulding and Lady Gaga, is a good starting point, then it’s probably best to kick it up a notch with “My Love Will Destroy You,” which thankfully also works in pre Born This Way Stefani.

Sorrow & Owsey’s ambient piece “Approaching Farewell” is perfect for this kind of weather.

Melodule & Van Did’s electro soundscape “Deep Velvet” is a good track to end with – mesmerizing.
