There’s such a fine line between quality house music and producers who think they can get away with a mediocre “thumpa-thumpa” bass drum and random keyboard solos just because some Europeans will dance to anything like that. And you know what? That might be right. So we’ve taken the liberty of expanding away from house – to give you a dance collection that incorporates “anything we want to dance to that isn’t pure hip-hop or top 40 or rock.” To paraphrase Supreme Court justice John Paul Stevens and porn, “we know it when we hear it.” Oh, and no dubstep.

Justice’s aptly titled “D.A.N.C.E.” is a good track to start off with. Honestly, these guys never cease to impress me. Remixes, originals… it doesn’t seem as if there are any chinks in their armor.

I’m not ashamed to say there are several Ke$ha songs I want to put in this collection. But it’s the Cirkut remix of her song “Blow” that I find most appropriate for the club floor.

It would be a sin to ignore the Knife in matters of dance – therefore, “Silent Shout” and “Heartbeats” are next. Q.E.D.

Last off: Diplo, Diplo, Diplo. ‘Nuff said. These are but two of my favorites from the long-necked dinosaur master DJ’s catalog (including his time with Mssrs. Switch and Lazer).
