She & Him, Snails, Last American Buffalo

Ah yes, the indie folk phenomenon. See, the Internet scene isn’t just full of dubstep, you know; for every Nero, there’s an Iron & Wine (you know, those guys that did that BITCHIN’ Postal Service cover?). A few representative acts, some fresh and others recognizable, entered our sonic awareness today. As expected, none of them are really my cup of tea – Last American Buffalo’s “I Know” is hokey as hell and “Daylight Ends” from Snails somehow achieves twee levels of stomach-turning sweetness.

And, I’m sorry, but She & Him continues to be pretty terrible with their latest, “The Christmas Waltz,” which is apparently the first of many Christmas songs to follow this holiday season. Yuck. Don’t you have some TV episodes to shoot, Zoe?
