Wildcat! Wildcat!

These Wildcat! Wildcat! tracks kind of sounds like what indie-orchestra-pop band Final Fantasy would do if they decided to migrate to anthem rock a la M83 or Justice. Both tracks have a solid rock beat that sometimes ventures into hip-hop, are set up in concretely delineated sections reminiscent of a set of symphonic movements, and… yes, are a little bit twee. Not too much, though. Certainly not She And Him territory. “Mr. Quiche” is my favorite.

Here’s that Final Fantasy track I had in mind, by the way. The piano is what really gets me. That, and the fact that I listened to it a lot the year after I graduated from college. Anything that came my way in that time period was bound to be tied up in angst.
