Frank Ocean, Scissor Sisters, TV Girl

These three artists have only recently burst onto the scene, but their music is well worth checking out:
Frank Ocean (birth name: Christopher Breaux) became a household name when Kanye West sampled two of his hooks on Watch The Throne. He’s released two mixtapes so far, Nostalgia and Ultra, but has yet to release a full studio album. It’s supposed to happen this year, though it’s as of yet untitled. Meanwhile, sate your appetite with his new single, “PDA.”

Fun fact: did you know the Scissor Sisters got their name from the eponymous lesbian sex act also known as tribadism? We covered the Scissor Sisters a while back for their collaboration with Azealia Banks, but they’re excellent in their own right. (And, frankly, they stood out more than Banks did on that track.) Their latest, “Only The Horses,” keeps it coming.

TV Girl caught our attention a while back for their nostalgic rock ballad, “Benny and the Jetts.” I had that on repeat all last summer – the EP it came out on was also worth listening to. (And free!) Now they’re releasing a new EP – also free – with the single “I Wonder Who She’s Kissing Now.” I might like this one even better.
